Unschooled In The Art Of Buying Jewelry
He could visualize her delight as she opened the box on her birthday. These were the ones. This was the perfect crystal necklace and the special birthday present he wanted to give Grace on her special day. Beauty for beauty he mused as he smiled on his way out of the store.
She wore rings and bracelets quite often. She wore them with all types of clothes. From jeans to dresses, she always had bracelets on.
Then he wondered if his girl had too many necklaces already. There were such a variety of styles and colors and he thought maybe she would like something different. The blue stones in one seemed especially nice. Grace wore blue a lot.
He stopped at the display case and spotted four sparkling blue necklaces. One was a gold chain with one blue stone, seemingly removable, on it. He asked the salesperson how much it was.
One with dozens of stones seemed very artistic and it had pale lavender stones. It seemed intricate and he thought Grace would like that. The price was prohibitive he thought.
Zak moved over to the earring display. He looked at two dozen beautiful pairs of rhodium earrings lined up in the case. He asked a few questions about rhodium and the saleslady answered him pleasantly.
It was obvious that he didn’t know much about jewelry. She told him a little about prices and why they were different depending on the materials used. She saw him turn his gaze toward the earrings.
His face brightened as he told the clerk about his plans. First he would take flowers to her house. Then he would take her out to dinner at their favorite restaurant. He already had the reservations made. Grace was going to be twenty years old next Friday.
When he made the reservation, he arranged for a small cake for dessert. He asked if the staff would sing happy birthday and they said sure. The cake would be sponge cake, her favorite kind. He liked all cake so it was fine for him too.
Next, they could walk around at the lakefront, talking and laughing. If it was raining, he knew just what movie he’d take her to. He was an intelligent and thoughtful young man who knew what she would like.
All these plans went through his mind as he picked out the perfect pair of swarovski earrings. They were pale blue. He knew they would look beautiful with her blue eyes.
When she opened the box she would be really surprised. The earrings could become her favorite pair. They made a great birthday surprise He wanted Grace to enjoy every minute of the special evening he had planned. He left with the earrings packed in a gift box.
